The feeling that I had when I stepped onto the smooth wooden deck was heavenly. It was great to be finally on the ship, even though she was rocking from side to side like a wild horse in a theme park.

But that was just the beginning...I had never dreamed of having so much fun until we had sailed out to the open sea. The tremendous winds tilted the ship left and right, it was like being in the middle of an earthquake!

When I was on the ship, I learnt to be more responsible than I was before I had come on the voyage. I also learnt that teamwork and friendship were important values to have, because without these values, it's impossible to succeed in life. And this was my greatest experience; working together in a team.

I also climbed to the top of the main mast, which was 33 metres in height. Almost the height of a school building!! But that didn't frighten me off, because there was a message right there on the top of the mast. And reading the message was worth the climb to the top. (What it said in the message is for me to know and for you to find out!)

As always, fear will hit you in the wrong place and at the wrong time; to anyone and everyone, old or young, weak or strong. I was not disqualified from this, as the feeling of fear did reach me.

But that didn't stop me from reaching the top. Actually, I am quite a stubborn person, so I used that to fight the fear. When at last I reached the top, after all the hard work, I stayed on up there to enjoy the view.

After that, the days passed by and it was suddenly almost the end of the voyage. I felt reluctant to leave the ship and all the friends I had made on the voyage. We were like family. A very big family...

So now I am at home, writing out this personal log and telling all of you what I did on the Leeuwin...It's all straight from my heart, and I'm not lying at all!! I really hope to go back to the Leeuwin, not as a participant, but as a permanent crew member of the ship. It is an awesome ship and I will remember the trip for the rest of my life.
