The Leeuwin Ocean Adventure 2003
13th - 20th September 2003, Exmouth/Monkey Mia, Western Australia
'Leadership in the 21st Century 2'

The Leeuwin Ocean Adventure
Are you craving for an adventure? Are you prepared to push yourself to the limit? If you are, then the Leeuwin is the thing for you. Yayasan Anak Warisan Alam (406702-M) is organising a cool trip into the Indian Ocean, on board the STS Leeuwin II, where your leadership skills and teamwork will be exploited. Yayasan Anak Warisan Alam is a non-profit organisation bent on developing environmental awareness in young people through thought-provoking and fun-filled activities.

What Is the Leeuwin?
Built in 1986 to the highest Australian maritime standards, the Leeuwin II is a 350-ton, three-mast sail training ship based in Fremantle, Western Australia. The Leeuwin offers sailing adventures for young people, teaching them everything they must know to sail a large ship.

Voyage Details.
10 Sept., depart KLIA to Perth, at 9:30am.
11 Sept., free day in Fremantle.
12 Sept., 6pm, depart from Fremantle on a coach to Exmouth to board the ship.
13 Sept., set sail from Exmouth to Monkey Mia and into the ocean for 8 days of bliss, wilderness, and who-cares for sea-sickness!!
Leadership in the 21st Century 2, is the title and you'll be a different person after the sail.
Return by coach back to Perth on Sunday morning 21th Sept.
21 Sept. 4pm depart to KL.

Who is it for?
An Eco-Youth Challenge and Adventure Programme of YAWA. Those who want to go must be 15 before the sail and not a day older than 25 when you leave the ship. Must be reasonably fit and healthy, have a keen spirit of adventure and geared for leadership training.

How will you benefit?
You'll be exposed to the wildness and beauty of the ocean. You will begin to understand the importance of the role of the sea in our lives.

For personal development, you will be presented with a series of complex challenges designed to take you beyond your "comfort zones". Your personal development will be stimulated while working together in teams to cope with many tasks you will face in learning to sail the ship. The skills learned are highly relevant and directly transferable to your own life. Leadership skills will be enhanced. Throughout the voyage the highly qualified Leeuwin staff will ensure that safety is paramount and none of the challenges go beyond a persons capabilities. And after everything is over, your performance and development on the Leeuwin will be noted and you might be called back as part of the crew.

Future plan
YAWA will be recruiting 40 ex-Leeuwinites from voyages 2000, 2003 and 2004 to be trained as Watch Leaders... watch out guys, you might be in it.

How much will it cost?
RM3900 per person - Inclusive of returned air-fare, returned coach to Exmouth, one-night stop in Perth, food and insurance, except for pocket money. You will need to raise your own sponsorship. YAWA will gladly provide letters of support for participants to show to potential sponsors.
