UNEP Global 500 Roll of Honour
In June 2001, on World Environment Day, YAWA was inducted into the United
Nations Environmental Programme, UNEP, Global 500 Roll of Honour for
Environmental Achievement under the Youth Category. The ceremony took
place in Turin, Italy.
Dr. Klaus Toepfer, Executive Director of UNEP says, "The winners of UNEP's
Global 500 Roll of Honour are members of a broad and growing environmental
movement that is flourishing around the world. They have taken the path
that most of us hesitate to take for want of time and caring".
In appreciation of the support given to YAWA from Government Agencies,
NGO's, United Nations Malaysia, UNDP and UNEP, the press and media,
corporate sponsorships and donations, volunteers, parents and members,
YAWA has initiated the E-book of Acknowledgement. This concept is our way
to thank all those who have helped us during the last decade.
