Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2010 (SCKLM)

Yayasan Anak Warisan Alam (YAWA) is one of the 5 charity partners selected by Standard Chartered to be involved in the KL Marathon.SCKLM has two charity programmes – (1) Run for a Cause, which is for individual runners and (2)Corporate Challenge, which is for corporations. For both programmes, the charity designated by runners/ corporations will receive 100% of pledges. YAWA would like to encourage runners to run for YAWA, with the funds/ pledges collected, YAWA will be able to conduct a myriad of activities, programmes, and the projects that YAWA have planned for 2010. One of YAWA’s major ongoing projects is the Keep Planting Trees (KPT) project that YAWA have embarked on for several years.
Thus YAWA’s tagline for the SCKLM 2010 is You Run YAWA Plant!” as it will result in offsetting ones Carbon Footprint.
"Run for a Cause" is one such initiative. Registration for this cause is simple: choose YAWA as the charity that you want to support by pledging to raise a minimum of RM500 from the run. You can even design a profile page to raise money at the Donating Runners page once you have registered successfully. Once you raise the minimum pledged amount, your entry free will be waived. It's that simple! Registration can be done online at www.kl-marathon.com. Select YAWA as your charity designation, which would be greatly appreciated, and you are all set to go! We are really looking forward to your support! We sincerely hope to see you there at the Standard Chartered KL Marathon Run 2010 at Dataran Merdeka on June 27th! Our Cheerleading Team will be there to spur you on for this noble cause.
“When You Run as “1”, You Run for a Cause!”

"YOU RUN YAWA PLANT!"

g500logoYAWA is the first Malaysian Youth Foundation to receive the Global 500 environment award Roll of Honour for Environmental Achievement.

Welcome to YAWA's UNEP Global 500 E-Book of Acknowledgement

Yayasan Anak Warisan Alam, YAWA, or Children’s Environmental Heritage Foundation started with a simple trip to Kuala Selangor Nature Park to explore nature in February of 1990. Since then, it has organised over 100 projects and activities, touching the lives and opening the eyes of countless children.

In June 2001, on World Environment Day, in recognition of it’s efforts, YAWA was inducted into the prestigious UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) ‘Global 500 Roll of Honour for Environmental Achievement’ in the Youth Category. YAWA is the first Youth organisation from Malaysia to receive the award in the category.

In appreciation of the support YAWA has received over the last decade, YAWA is launching the E-Book of Acknowledgement, in partnership with the Global 500 Forum and with the encouragement and support of the President of the Forum, Ms. Marilyn Mosley.

As a member of the Forum, YAWA will work with the Forum to link the E-Book of Acknowledgement to the Forum website. All sponsors and donors of the Global 500 laureates will be recorded therein. The logo and web addresses of all sponsors and donors will be entered and this will give their organisation a platform for global recognition. The Global 500 Forum website is sponsored by Alcoa Alumina of Australia, is a very popular site and can be visited at www.global500.org Eventualy, the ‘Book of Acknowledgement’ will be published in book form by the Forum.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, YAWA wishes to acknowledge its young members, sponsors, donors, volunteers and parents who have donated, sponsored and supported YAWA. Proudly, we list all those who have been supportive and continue to do so.

YAWA's success has been largely due to the support and sponsorship provided by countless individuals.
